The Chess File
About
Competitive chess, covered like the sport it is. The Chess File reports results, rumors and the people behind the board, starting on Instagram at @thechessfile.
The Chess File covers the people, results and rumors of competitive chess. We care about the stories the scoreboard doesn’t tell: who was missing, who stepped up, and what it means for what comes next.
We started on Instagram as @thechessfile, where every story still lands first as a carousel. This site is where those stories get the room to breathe.
How we work
We report what we can stand behind. When something is a rumor, we call it a rumor. When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so at the bottom of the story.
Photographs are credited to the photographers and organisations who made them.
